A good fade request is less about knowing every barber term and more about giving clear information. The most useful details are fade height, shortest length, top length and the finish you want around the hairline and beard.
Start with the silhouette
Decide whether you want the fade to sit low near the ear, move through the middle of the side, or climb higher toward the temple. A lower transition generally keeps more weight around the head. A higher transition removes more of that weight.
Talk about the shortest length
“Skin” and “very short” can mean different things in conversation. Be specific about whether you want the shortest area taken down to skin or whether you prefer a little visible shadow.
Describe the top
Say how much length you want to keep, whether the top should be textured or controlled, and how you normally wear it. Mention your usual styling routine so the result is practical after the appointment.
Bring the beard into the plan
If you wear facial hair, say whether you want it kept full, shortened, tapered into the sideburn or simply lined. Haircut is $30 for 35 minutes; Haircut and Beard is $40 for 45 minutes.
